Trans Lifeline is launching a Family & Friends Line!
We are currently seeking dedicated cisgender SOFFA (significant others, friends, family, and allies) to answer the phone and support others with trans loved ones.
Support that Changes Lives
We are frequently approached by cisgender allies and other loved ones who would like to make a difference. At Trans Lifeline we have seen the impact that genuine empathy and peer support can have, so we are expanding our outreach to support, empower, and mobilize these individuals.
Encouraging Positive Allyship and Strengthening Existing Support Structures
Trans Lifeline callers may have never knowingly met another trans, nonbinary, intersex, agender, gender nonconforming, or questioning person before. Our operators serve as a reminder that you aren’t alone and empower you to create the life you have always wanted through acceptance and understanding. By expanding our outreach and providing this same level of support to our cisgender allies, we provide a practical example of what genuine support can look like. We gently encourage you to trust and support your trans loved ones, thereby increasing support for the entire community.
How Can I Make a Difference?
If you are over the age of 18, have a trans loved one who you support, have a quiet place with phone and internet in which to take calls, and have at least two hours a week available to volunteer, we need YOU!
Our comprehensive, nationally accredited 32+ hour training program will teach you the skills and knowledge needed to support the trans community. Our Trans Lifeline volunteers and staff will assist you with this process and offer peer support, mentoring, and guidance along the way. This is revolutionary, life saving work - Will you join us?
